Har ki Dun Trek
Located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary in Uttarakhand, Har Ki Dun entertains travelers with its scenic vistas of the Garhwal Himalayas and ancient village spread over 25 km, and the trek takes 2-3 days to Sankari village each way. The name translates to "Valley of the Gods," reflecting its literal meaning and local beliefs associated with Shiva's divine sounds. The trail weaves through fortified villages like Taluka, Gangad and Osla, providing dense forests up to the last village, Osla. The valley offers spectacular views of Swarg Rohini I Peak and Marinda Taal. The trip is possible for seven months, with May and June considered the best. Summer offers warm days, flowers and the special Harki Dun festival held in August. Autumn, especially September, brings less rain, vibrant vegetation and cinnamon colours. An easy downhill trek of 25 km over three days ends with an optional visit to Marinda Tal or Hata Valley. The trip lasts seven days and is open to children ages 9 and up.
